Nail the 7 C’s

7 differentiating leadership skills

I speak on leadership trends monthly. I love the topic because one of the principles of leading with a Me-Suite mindset is “staying fresh and relevant for the future you want to have.” Today’s work world is shaped immensely by four trends:

  • Mobile, global, always-on

  • Data deluge

  • Every business is a technology business

  • Vocal employee expectations

Specific leadership skills will differentiate you in the face of these work world trends. I call them the 7 C’s:

  1. Curiosity—learn voraciously or quickly be a fossil

  2. Critical Thinking—take time to connect the dots that others don’t see

  3. Collaboration—there is nothing we accomplish truly alone

  4. Courage—move from idea to action if you want to make a difference

  5. Camaraderie with Technology—view tech as your complement, not your replacement

  6. Character—consistently live your values and respect others’

  7. Communication—your great idea is useless if you can’t influence others with your stories, data, and value

The 7 C’s are not new words, but the ways of working that each represents are of heightened importance today. Stay fresh and relevant. Nail the 7 C’s. A coach can help.
